It’s hard to change our character with out changing out choices. If we want to become different, it’s all about focusing on the small things.. the individual acts and choices that become habits which form our character. Recently the youth at Epic have challenged themselves and by default others to carry the Bible with them at all times for the next 31 days. Research suggests that most habits form in about 28 days. What little things could we challenge ourselves to over the next 31 days that would become new habits which form our character? What do our current habits suggest our future character will look like?

God we thank you that you give us our daily Mac and Cheese, even when we originally know that we would want or need it.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship Dinners at the Dialogue Center

If you like to cook, this might be the opportunity for you. Intervarsity on the Campus of Lehigh University hosts several dinner nights and is looking for some home-cooked meals. The dates of the dinner are Sept. 15th, Oct. 6th, Nov. 3rd and Dec. 1st. Below is the info if you are interested in helping out.

What are we doing?

We began gathering as a fellowship for dinner monthly to live out scripture – Acts 2:42-47 specifically, to gather and be together while bringing our friends who do not know Jesus. Our hope is that we get to love people and serve them and welcome them as we are also talking with them about Jesus (not necessarily at the dinner). This is one aspect of InterVarsity’s ministry on campus and is a place where we would love to invite others to serve!

How many students typically come?

We aim for around 50-60 students and could get anywhere from 25-75. It really depends on the night and what students want to do – RSVPing is not a college cultural value and we want folks to feel welcome even if they didn’t RSVP. You could either create your own team and provide the whole meal together, or commit to part of a meal that I would create the meal with many different people – you let me know!

Dates?

September 15th, October 6th, and November 3rd, and December 1st beginning at 6pm – If food could arrive between 5:45 and 6, that would be great. (students stay late, but you do not have to!)

What would my responsibility be?

We are inviting those who are interested in serving to prepare a meal or a portion of a meal (ahead of time) and drop it off or to bring it and hang out with students as long as you would like to.

Can we use the kitchen?

Lehigh is asking that we only use the kitchen to heat things up, but have done the cooking ahead of time. If you can provide paper products, that would be great, if not, please let Liz know.

Menu Ideas?

Lasagna, Pasta of any kind, Enchiladas, Chili, Tacos, Cassaroles of any kind, Salads, Home-baked pizza

Really, you can make anything and remember – home-cooked will beat the dining-hall ANYDAY and they are just grateful for what you are offering!

Where is the Dialogue Center?

661 Taylor St, Bethlehem 18015

Turn up (fron whichever direction you are coming) Taylor St, continue on campus, past the Business Center (Rauch). You may park anywhere in Faculty/Staff Parking to unload, and may be able to stay there, but may need to move your car. We’ll direct you once there. The building number is clearly on a sign out front.

Special needs food?

Having a vegetarian option is helpful.

Thank you for your willingness to consider serving Lehigh’s College students! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call Liz! We hope that this is a blessing to you as well as you serve students!
