The Story

The Prelude:
Epic wasn’t even a sparkle in the eyes of anyone but God as Rob and Lori pursued the American dream. They were comfortable and happy but never really satisfied. After encountering an amazing God in a new and relevant way, they packed up their bags and left their life behind for the brave new world of ministry. They sold their 1850 farmhouse and quit their jobs then headed to seminary to learn more about this amazing God and how they could introduce Him to an emerging generation.

Chapter 1: The Return
Rob and Lori moved back to PA after seminary with a dream to plant a church that would be creative, relevant, and community focused. Shortly after they returned, they got a call from some seminary friends who wanted to come to PA and help them plant a church called Epic. By faith, Pastor Brian and Ali moved to Pennsylvania with a newborn in hand and no place to live. Within a few short weeks, God provided Brian and Ali a place to live, and a job to make ends meet.

Chapter 2: The Quest.
Four people are amazing, but they couldn’t launch a church on their own, so they began a quest to find others like them. They searched high and low for people who believed that church was more than going to a building on Sunday mornings. They turned over every rock and looked in every corner to find people who were tired of having to get all dressed up in a suit just to worship God. They searched high and low for people who didn’t want to sit in pews, in silence, and in judgment. This quest led them to realize that there were many more people out there that shared their vision. They began to gather and share their hopes and dreams for a better life through God. They wanted to tell others about what they discovered.

Chapter 3: The Open Door.
In March 2005 God opened a door for us to begin weekly services at the Banana Factory. A local church helped by sending a few leaders who would form the core of Epic Church. Our first week nearly 40 people showed and became a foundation from which we would build.

And so, the Epic story continues…
