A Season to RememberBy Lori Schlegel
How do you prepare for the remembrance of Christ’s coming each holiday season? Have you ever considered what it was like during days leading up to the first Christmas? Are you looking for a way to celebrate this Advent season in a more meaningful and intentional way?
A few years ago, I discovered a series of historical fiction Advent storybooks by author and storyteller Arnold Ytreeide. Each one of these four storybook devotionals follows a child on an amazing journey, ending in them discovering the Christ child. One chapter is read every day of Advent, concluding with the main character coming face to face with the infant Savior on Christmas morning.
In very gifted storyteller fashion, Ytreeide packs the tales with action, including encounters with thieves, robbers, kidnappers, and more! Many of the daily chapters leave the reader wanting to read ahead to find out what will happen next. I know children will enjoy these storybook devotionals, but also recommend them for adults looking for a new way to celebrate Advent. You won’t be disappointed!
